A Cut Above

Higher standards of surgical care.

Surgery is a part of all pet’s lives. We aim to make it a safe, easy, and pleasant experience for both you and your pet’s. We will spend the time to ensure that all your questions are answered and that you feel comfortable you are making the best possible decision for your pet. We provide general soft tissue surgeries like spays, neuters, lump removals, wound repair, and more. Our clinic has a fully equipped surgical suite with excellent equipment to monitor our patients while under anesthetic. We highly recommend preanesthetic bloodwork so we can provide the best care and anesthetic protocol for your pet. Our team will go over in detail the at-home care instructions for your pet as well as any medications they may be going home with.  Gold-Standard Surgery

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Preparing For Surgery Bloodwork is highly recommended for all procedures and is required for our dental procedures. This helps us asses your pet from the inside. It is a more detailed view of their health and any changes allows us to tailor the anesthetic specifically for them. Finding out potential issues early on is a benefit to preventative medicine. Even normal bloodwork is extremely beneficial as it helps establish a baseline for the future. We like to schedule bloodwork ideally 2 weeks before your pet’s procedure so the Doctor has a chance to discuss it with you prior to the big day.

We need your pet to be fasted for their procedure, so this means no food after 10 pm the night before surgery. Yes, this means no breakfast on the day of surgery however your pet may have water up until the time they need to be dropped off.

The Day Of Surgery

Drop off time is usually between 7:30-8:30 am, before our clinic opens. Just ring the doorbell when you arrive and we will meet you and welcome your pet inside. We will confirm your paperwork, weigh your pet, and ask you some questions. Plan for about 20 minutes to go through this process.

The Veterinarian will perform a physical exam the morning of surgery and will call you to discuss the physical exam and answer any questions you still have about the day. We will also call you after the procedure is over to let you know how it went and when you can be reunited with them.

Your pet will have a tailored anesthetic protocol just for your pet and will be monitored by a registered veterinary technologist. They will receive IV fluids, hospitalization for the day, post-operative monitoring, pain medication given at the time of the procedure as well as some to go home, local blocks of the surgery site where appropriate, and lots of love from all our team.

Post-Surgery

The pick-up time post-surgery will be arranged after the Doctor calls once the surgery is over. This time can vary depending on your pet’s needs, the timing of surgery, and your availability.

We know you will have so many questions after their surgery about their aftercare. We will be providing written discharge instructions so that you feel confident and comfortable caring for your pet after their surgery. We are available for all questions you have.

Surgery FAQs

If we have not previously seen your pet, we do require a pre-surgical exam so we can ensure your pet is healthy and provide you with an accurate estimate. It also gives us an opportunity to get to know you and your pet and make personalized recommendations. We also need to discuss risks to make sure you are fully informed. Please do not hesitate to contact our staff with any questions about our surgery services or if you would like to book an appointment.

We do not provide non-medical cosmetic surgeries like declawing, ear cropping, or tail docking as we believe these to be unethical and unnecessary.

We provide general soft tissue surgeries like spays, neuters, lump removals, wound repair, and more.

We do not have a specialty surgeon on site. This means we refer out our orthopedic surgeries like knee surgeries and broken bone surgeries. We also refer out airway surgery, anal gland removals, root canals and specialty eye surgeries.
